While I believe the incident was an accident, Justin Timberlake’s behavior following the wardrobe malfunction was atrocious. He sacrificed Janet to protect his image. She stood there, completely vulnerable, exposed, and looking to him to shield her, but I suppose you can’t look to a boy to comport themselves as a man.

The level of stupidity, racism, and sexism in this country knows no bounds. Women are exploited in every facet of television and film. Everything about a woman is sexualized. Women are ridiculed for breastfeeding in public, meanwhile, you can walk pass a Victoria Secret store in any mall with posters of half-naked women taped to the windows. Where’s the outrage, the protest, and 500,000 letters of contempt? Certainly, those images are meant to be sexual in nature.
Janet Jackson’s breast covering was ripped off. Yet, letters were written to the FCC about her and not the golden boy. People commented disproportionately about Janet while Justin received a pass. Was the uproar really about an accidental nipple slip during a “family time sporting event” or was it more related to the color of the nipple? What the situation really boiled down to was there goes another Black using one of ours to destroy OUR America.
Now, I’m not saying that every complaining person was a racist. What I am saying is that every complaining person was either stupid or a racist. In some cases, both. When did a bunch of steroid driven athletes giving each other concussions become an appropriate sport for kids to watch? Have you not seen the Superbowl commercials? So, let me see if I understand this correctly. It’s okay for your child to see alcohol and sex obsessed commercials during the game, but an accidental five second BLACK nipple is where you draw the line? Grow up. You want some family time with the kids? Turn off the damn tv and spend time with them.
The FCC isn’t worth the cost of its logo. Images of women being violently raped can be shown on television, but you can’t use the word fuck when it pertains to sex? Rape a woman, yes. Asking to fuck her, no. Go fuck yourself FCC and not in the pleasant way.
What pissed me off then and continues to piss me off is how people treated Janet after the Super Bowl. Their comments were disgusting, hateful, and cruel. To this very day, I still come across nasty comments pertaining to her and the Super Bowl; somehow, Justin manages to ride the blameless wave. She was humiliated, but the vultures ripped her apart anyway. Janet owns her sexuality and her art and doesn’t apologize for it. So, when she told you it was a wardrobe malfunction, you should have believed her and offered a comforting word. Maybe you would have had her nipple been the “appropriate shade”.
